A list of words and phrases used in recipes, and what they really mean

Word or Phrase Heat proof bowl
What it means Some glass bowls can't cope with getting very hot. If the bowl is going ontop of the stove or in the over it must be heat proof. That means it has been disigned to cope with becoming hot or cold very quickly. Sometimes you will see either 'heat proof' or the word 'Pyrex' stamped on the bowl. If you aren't sure, ask somebody!
